2022 Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association Annual Appeal
Each year, the Annual Appeal campaign raises nearly a quarter of our Association's annual budget. With ever increasing threats to Seneca Lake, the work to preserve and protect Seneca Lake water quality is needed more than ever. Please join in the effort to protect Seneca Lake by donating to this year's Annual Appeal campaign.
WITH YOUR HELP, THE SENECA LAKE PURE WATERS ASSOCIATION WILL FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS IN THE UPCOMING YEAR:
The Association's newest program, the Sediment, Nutrient, and Pollution Reduction program partners with watershed stakeholders to identify and fund pollution reduction projects that have a tangible impact on the limiting of nutrient loading into Seneca Lake. Since its inception, The SNPR program has funded cover crops and installation of retention ponds, with more great projects being reviewed in December. Help us fund more pollutant limiting projects!
The Fishery Studycollaboration between the Finger Lakes Institute, Seneca Pure Waters, and the Seneca Lake National Lake Trout Derby works with the anglers on Memorial Day Weekend to collect specimen for the study of salmonid diet to better understand the populations in Seneca Lake. 2023 will be the second year of this three year study, in which PURE WATERS provides both funding and volunteers for the collection events. Help us better understand the fish population of Seneca Lake!
The Lake Friendly Living program continues to educate watershed residents and region - wide through the LFL Coalition of the Finger Lakes. Other Lake Associations outside of the Finger Lakes have shown interest in joining the Coalition, making this an ever growing program with momentum on its side. Help us keep the momentum growing!
