Take Action for Seneca Lake

Your Voice. Your Lake. Your Legacy.

Seneca Lake is the heart of our community—and it needs our care now more than ever. From harmful algal blooms to invasive species and stormwater runoff, the challenges are real, but so are the solutions. Whether you’re a year-round resident, summer visitor, business owner, or student, there’s a way for you to make a difference.

Speak Up For The Lake

Attend a Public Hearing (In Person Preferred)
Before legislation reaches the Assembly or Senate floor, it is reviewed in committee hearings. These are open to the public and offer a powerful way to share your voice directly with decision-makers.

Tips for Attending a Hearing:

  • Sign in at the hearing room entrance.

  • Indicate your position (support or oppose).

  • Request to speak, if desired.

  • Keep testimony to 2–3 minutes.

  • Focus on how the bill impacts Seneca Lake, your community, and the broader watershed.

Submit Online or Written Testimony
Can’t attend in person? Submitting remote or written testimony is just as impactful. Most NY State committees accept emailed or uploaded statements ahead of public hearings.

Steps for Submitting Testimony:

  • Start with a clear introduction and respectful tone.

  • Reference the bill name/number in the subject line.

  • State your position and a brief explanation in the first sentence.

  • Share a personal connection or story, if possible.

  • Include your name, address, and contact information.
