Larry Martin of Seneca Lake Pure Waters Receives NYSFOLA Award

GENEVA, N.Y.Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association (Pure Waters) is thrilled to announce that Larry Martin, a long-time dedicated volunteer and board member, has been honored with the 2025 New York State Federation of Lake Associations (NYSFOLA) Lake Steward Award. The award was presented at the annual NYSFOLA conference held May 2-3, 2025, at Lake George, NY, recognizing Larry’s unwavering commitment to the preservation and protection of Seneca Lake.

For over a decade, Larry has been an integral part of Pure Water’s water quality monitoring programs, where his leadership and passion for environmental stewardship have made a lasting impact. As the lead volunteer for the Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program (CSLAP), Larry’s efforts have been crucial in gathering long-term data that informs lake management decisions. He has also contributed to harmful algal bloom monitoring, stream health assessments, invasive species detection, and fisheries research.

“Larry’s dedication to Seneca Lake goes far beyond volunteer work,” said William Roege, President of Pure Waters. “His passion, knowledge, and commitment to preserving the health of our lake have made him an invaluable member of our organization. We are proud to see him recognized with the Lake Steward Award.”

In addition to his scientific contributions, Larry is a tireless advocate for fundraising and event coordination, always bringing enthusiasm to every task. His collaborative efforts extend beyond Pure Waters, working with local researchers and environmental organizations to further protect the Finger Lakes region. In 2023, Larry was named Seneca Lake Pure Waters Volunteer of the Year.

The NYSFOLA Lake Steward Award is presented annually to individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to their lake association, and Larry’s lifetime of service exemplifies the spirit of this prestigious honor.
