Stream Monitoring

Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association is the leading nonprofit dedicated to protecting the health of Seneca Lake. Through science, volunteer action, and public education, we work to ensure clean water, a vibrant ecosystem, and a sustainable future for the people and communities who depend on the lake every day.

CSLAP

CSLAP (Citizen Statewide Lake Assessment Program) is a partnership with the NYSDEC and NY Federation of Lake Associations. Trained volunteers collect lake water samples throughout the season to track changes in water chemistry, clarity, and temperature over time.

HABs

Our HABs volunteers act as early-warning eyes on the water, identifying and reporting harmful algal blooms. This critical work helps alert the public to health risks and provides data to better understand bloom frequency and causes.

Cladophora

Cladophora is a green algae that can grow excessively under certain conditions. Volunteers monitor shoreline buildup to help determine when and where it becomes a problem and what environmental factors may be contributing.
