PURE Brew Collaboration Raises $8,021 for Seneca Lake

GENEVA, N.Y. Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association (Pure Waters) is beyond grateful to the Seneca Lake Order of Brewers (SLOBs) and Grist Iron Brewing Company for presenting us with a donation of $8,021 raised through this year’s PURE Pils collaboration brew. The check was presented last night, September 23, 2025, at a reception hosted by Grist Iron Brewing Company.

The PURE Brew collaboration unites breweries and community partners around a shared mission: to highlight the importance of Seneca Lake’s water quality while raising funds to support conservation efforts. This year’s PURE Pils was a true community effort, with malted barley from New York Craft Malt in Batavia, raw barley from Seneca Grain & Bean in Penn Yan, heritage New York hops from Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, yeast donated by RahrBSG, and labels provided by TLF in Rochester. Even the packaging carried a sustainable story, featuring 100% reused Paktechs collected through Ontario County’s recycling program.

“We’re beyond grateful to the SLOBs and everyone who supported PURE Pils this year,” said Kelly Blackhurst, Community Engagement Coordinator for Pure Waters. “Seneca Lake is at the heart of our community, and partnerships like this show how much we can accomplish when we come together.”

The $8,021 donation will directly support Pure Waters’ mission to preserve, protect, and promote the water quality of Seneca Lake through education, research, and community engagement.
