Hydrogeology and Lake Level with Bill Kappel

Bill Kappel spent more than 30 years as a hydrogeologist with the US Geological Survey before retiring in 2014. During his tenure he studied surface-water and groundwater interaction in New York. After the Finger Lake floods of the 1990s he worked with FLOWPA to describe the hydrology of the Oswego River Basin and since that time he has given numerous lake association presentations to share what he has learned. He will provide a general overview of how Seneca Lake fits into the regional flow system and address questions on the management of Finger Lake water levels and river-flow management throughout the Oswego River Basin. These interconnections are key to understanding what impacts and controls Seneca Lake water levels.
