Seneca Lake Pure Waters Welcomes New Board Members

GENEVA, N.Y. — Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association (Pure Waters) is pleased to announce the election of two new members to its Board of Directors, as voted upon at our Annual Meeting on Thursday, September 11: John Kirk and Erik Olsen. Both bring extensive professional experience and a shared commitment to protecting and preserving Seneca Lake.

John Kirk, pictured left, is a semi-retired Principal Broker with more than 20 years of experience in real estate. He previously spent six years as a middle school math and science teacher in California and has been an engaged Geneva resident for four years. Kirk brings strong skills in communication, relationship-building, and outreach, and has joined Pure Waters’ Membership and Fundraising Committee, where he helps connect people and generate enthusiasm for clean water initiatives.

Erik Olsen, pictured right, recently retired from a distinguished career in the wine industry, including senior leadership roles at Bonterra Organic Estates, Constellation Brands, and Chateau Ste. Michelle. Since building a home on Seneca Lake three years ago, he has actively participated in Pure Waters’ HABs and stream monitoring programs. Olsen holds degrees in fermentation science, food science, and an MBA, giving him expertise in microbiology, chemistry, agriculture, and organizational management. He also brings prior nonprofit board experience in California, with a focus on finance and fundraising initiatives.

“We are pleased to welcome Erik and John to our board,” said Bill Roege, President of Pure Waters. “We appreciate their enthusiasm for the lake and their willingness to apply their valuable time and energy to our mission.”
